Keyboard: arrows to move, Enter to start a word, arrows to extend, Enter again to confirm, Esc to cancel.
Scale and reversal together make this the slowest grid of the set. Every position has eight directions leading out of it and the field is wide, so brute-force scanning stops working almost immediately. What works instead is patience with a system: a fixed order, a marked list, and a willingness to leave a stubborn animal for later rather than staring at it.
Printed, it fills an afternoon rather than a break, and it holds up as a shared puzzle: two people scanning the same sheet from different corners is a reasonable way to finish it. The animals themselves remain everyday ones, so nobody is stuck on the meaning of a word, only on where it went.
Take one animal at a time and hunt its least common letter rather than its first — an unusual letter is quicker to spot across a wide field.
