The shortest entries cause the most trouble on a compact hard grid. A handful of letters reversed inside a crowded block looks like nothing in particular, and words such as Elf, Star or Bell can sit between two longer answers without announcing themselves. Longer terms are easier, because a distinctive run of letters still reads as distinctive backwards.

Take it as a puzzle rather than a pastime. Players who find the large hard sheet exhausting often prefer this one, because the effort is concentrated instead of stretched out, and you can finish it in a single stubborn sitting. It also prints small enough to sit beside something else on the page.

When you are stuck, read one full line backwards out loud instead of scanning it; hearing the letters catches reversed words that the eye slides over.
