Hard opens the four reversed directions: right to left, bottom to top, and both diagonals running back the way they came. A word you know by sight becomes unfamiliar when its last letter comes first, and that is the whole difficulty. Nothing else changes, since the vocabulary is the same seasonal set and the grid keeps its usual proportions.

This is the reference challenge for solvers who finish medium grids without slowing down, and the one to print for a group that wants an evening of puzzling rather than a warm-up. Expect to go back over ground you thought was clear, because a word can sit in plain view before you read it the right way round.

Hunt for endings as well as beginnings. A reversed word starts with its last letter, so the -y of Holly and Candy or the -er of Reindeer is often what gives it away.
