Answers cross each other, share letters, and start inside one another, which is why this grid takes longer than its size suggests. The upside is that you can hold the whole thing in view at once and never lose your place halfway through a sweep.

Short and mid-length words dominate here, so several of the theme's quick entries turn up together while the longer baked and decorative terms may not appear at all. It suits a solver who likes pressure in a small space, and it prints well when you want something that does not take up a full sheet.

In a dense grid, check the second and third letters before following a lead: repeated openings like Ca- and Sn- will send you down the wrong line more than once.
