Open the workshop door and hunt for the tools hidden in a grid of letters.
This tools word search gathers the vocabulary of the workshop: things that cut, grip, measure and fasten, plus the safety gear that protects eyes and hands. Younger solvers learn what each object is called and does, while adults will enjoy spotting the precise names of parts they usually just call a thingamajig.
The page has three levels, easy, medium and hard, with grid sizes from 8×8 up to 20×20. Easy puzzles read only left to right and top to bottom; medium adds diagonals, and hard allows backwards words too. Every grid is generated and then checked automatically by software, so each word appears exactly once. It is free, needs no sign-up, and prints with an answer key.

Classroom activity idea
In a shop or technology class, print different grids for the whole group (1, 5, 10 or 30 copies). Each student picks three tools they found, tells the class what the tool does and which trade uses it, and sketches it beside the word. It makes a calm warm-up before a hands-on project.
Classroom use is allowed: print as many copies as your students need, free of charge, with no sign-up.
Some names are two words run together, with no space or hyphen in the grid, so scan for the first letter of the whole phrase and follow it through.
