Word searches by grade: kindergarten to high school

Each theme is placed with the age group whose vocabulary it fits best. Level and size are then set on the theme page.

A theme does not suit every age. The farm, pets or winter speak to kindergarten children, who recognize the words as soon as the list is read aloud. The skeleton, the organs or Quebec expressions call for vocabulary usually met at the end of elementary school and in high school. The groups below follow the cycles of Quebec schools: kindergarten with Grades 1 and 2, Grades 3 and 4, Grades 5 and 6, then high school.

Difficulty is chosen separately: at the easy level, words read only left to right and top to bottom, on an 8×8 or 10×10 grid; medium adds diagonals and larger grids; hard also lets words run backwards. For a class with mixed readers, print the same theme at two levels: everyone looks for the same words, each at their own pace.

Open a new unit with an easy grid on its theme: students meet the spelling of the words before using them in class.
