This pets word search covers the animals that share our homes, from small rodents to fish, plus the gear and care words that go with them.
The list mixes animal names with equipment, daily care and the responsible habits of owning a companion, such as vet visits. Children meet their furry, feathered and scaly friends here, while adults pick up practical vocabulary that suits any future owner.
The page has three levels: easy, medium and hard, with grid sizes from 8×8 up to 20×20. On easy, words run only left to right or top to bottom; medium adds diagonals, and hard also allows backwards words. Every grid is generated, then checked automatically by software, and is free, printable and comes with an answer key.

Classroom activity idea
Before playing, each student says which animal they would like at home. After the grid, they choose three words from the list and write a short care card: what the animal eats, where it sleeps and what it needs every week. Print a batch of different grids so every team gets its own.
Classroom use is allowed: print as many copies as your students need, free of charge, with no sign-up.
Start with the animal names you already know; they act as landmarks that help you spot the longer care and equipment terms.
